February 26, 2012 Dream Flowers This is the same bouquet from yesterday's daily, but this time I played with it in layers and added a texture. Basically, I desaturated it and added one of Kim Klassen's textures, dream, which has text that says, "dream" and other inspirational phrases. If you don't know Kim Klassen, go to http://www.kimklassencafe.com/ and check it out. She does online tutorials that are really good, in addition to all her fab textures. I'm not quite happy with this image still. I couldn't seem to get the right light balance that would be light enough to show all the text, yet dark enough so that main flower isn't too light (which it kind of is) and also darken the text of the texture. It's been so long since I played with textures (or with my camera or with photo software at all!) - I wish I had time to take another of Kim's classes! Thanks so much for your kind comments on yesterday's shot. Oh - and if you look in the larger sizes, you can see more of what the texture text says. And new blog post on the creative process for those interested is at www.karastewartaip.blogspot.com
February 25, 2012 Daisy A friend came to visit last weekend and brought me a lovely bouquet. This is the afternoon sun hitting the bouquet.
February 13, 2012 Cranberry Orange Bread Let me just say right off the bat that I should have just lied and saved this for Easter. Hey, it could pass for Easter! But no. This is actually a shot of our Christmas Cranberry Orange Bread that I just found on my card and uploaded yesterday. I have been so busy and stretched, that I didn't even remember I had taken any shots at Christmas! Now THAT'S bad! And I am way too embarrassed to post my red and green Christmas cookies shot. That will just have to wait for next year.
