February 5, 2012 Please excuse my posting 2 images today - still trying to catch up! This is another from my brother in law's studio shots that I did at Thanksgiving. This is actually Topaz Adjust's BW Effects. It is the Harsh Blue effect. While I don't like his shirt in the shot, I think the effect does some interesting things to his hand and guitar.
February 4, 2012 Studio, Selective Color Thank you so much for all your comments on my Blue Guitar yesterday, and for the warm welcome back! So nice to 'see' you all again. This isn't the most fabulous of shots, but I like it because I learned a lot on it. I used Topaz Adjust's BW Effects. It took, literally, 6 tries and 2 days to get the selective color right. The main problem was the program kept shutting down (memory error message - not sure if this means there was not enough memory to run the amount of selective color brushing I was doing, or what). And the other problem was getting the selective color brushing right - brush the right size so I didn't overlap any brushes or miss any areas. At any rate, while it was a long, frustrating process, I also learned a lot.
Blue Guitar EDITOR'S PICK, betterphoto.com, January 2012, Elements of Design February 3, 2012 I am about a month late posting for this year! OK, and so I didn't post much in December, either. Busy on all fronts. Which means I haven't even picked up my camera in weeks. And I think I have come to the conclusion that even if I can only post a 'daily' every week or two, it is still very valuable for me. Not only do I love seeing the work of all the other daily photogs, but if I don't have a 2012 gallery, I can pretty much guarantee that I won't pick up my camera as much as I want to, or should, for my continued growth. So here, finally, is my 2012 gallery, for however often I can post! This is my brother in law's guitar - taken at Thanksgiving at a studio shoot I did for him (and for me!). I loved the red against the blue, and the sensuous curve of the guitar. There was a white baseboard (red walls) at the bottom left, but I cloned it out. My blog post with 7 Snippets of Wisdom on Creativity: http://karastewartaip.blogspot.com/2012/02/7-snippets-of-wisdom-on-creativity.html and you can read what my brother in law, a musician, had to say about his creativity. UPDATE: This made it to FINALIST, betterphoto.com, January 2012, Elements of Design! Cross fingers I place!
