For photos that made it to the Finalist round for August 2009, 886 were chosen as Finalists among the 22,300 total images that were entered that month. I have to admit it's a little odd to me that this was chosen as a Finalist. There are so many images in the Animals category that I would consider better (including mine!), so I'm not quite sure why this was chosen . . . but I'll not look a gift horse in the mouth any more than that.
