1/18/11 More practice with layers, this time with texture - a first for me. Still working on homework from Kim Klassen Cafe skinnymini ecourse (www.kimklassencafe.com). I'm trying to become familiar with how to add and adjust settings on layers using textures. For this image, I added a grunge texture, then used a layer mask to take away some specific parts of it, then added an adjustment layer to adjust the levels (light levels), then added a hue/sat layer and mask to adjust the saturation and add back in some sat to the tomatoes, then a final layer using soft light blending mode. It was good practice, but I actually think I like the version I already had of this shot better. For that version, I used the Topaz Adjust spicify filter. Maybe I just need to get better at textures and pick a better texture next time! When I originally did the Topaz Adjust Spicify Filter on this image back in June I was dying to know how to do a texture on it but had no clue. Hmmm.....

Another grocery store shot. And I used the Topaz Adjust software that somebody told me about - liking it just fine so far! It is a PS plug in and I got the 30 day trial version. This is not what I envisioned for this shot (still working on that), but I think it is an interesting take on the original.
