A Year in the Life - Dailies 2009-2010

Photo diary project in which I would ideally take one photo a day as a sort of 'image diary' of life. However, we all know that I'm not going to take a photo a day, although we can all die of shock if I do find the time to do that. I'd love to have stunning images all, but the main point is to document life through one photo per day.

PJs

This stripe of in-focus area is driving me nuts. Seems like I have tried all the settings and combination of settings I know and I still can't get the whole darn thing in focus using macro.

George - not sure if your comment on my last daily was an invitation to speak further on the star ratings here as you and I have done. As I explained to you, personally, I'd much prefer a more meaningful use of the star ratings instead of getting and giving blanket 5 stars.

I'd learn more and grow more as a photographer if say, 2 stars were the fine, normal cool shot standard, and 4 shots the "Wow! Great shot - I love it!" standard. I'd save 5 stars for once in a blue moon when something REALLY hugely bowls me over. Just me, but I'd rather have that. But I know that some people (you, George!) would get ticked off if people started giving 2 and 3 star ratings for good shots. So I've been sticking to 4 stars and pretty much reserving 5 stars for the bowl-me-over type shots. Or for ones that evoke a strong emotion (like going to eat ice cream! :)

As far as the exif issues, I think I have it solved, thanks. Wrote pages about it and got help from folks on the challenges forum. Consensus is it is a bug in the Corel PSP X3 'upgrade' software.

Thanks for your comments and support! I am so enjoying being back and seeing everyone's amazing work!

Cruddy photo today - sorry! Still trying to figure out my missing exif info mystery and trying to solve that more than concentrating on taking good shots. I think I may have it figured out though!

Sorry for the bad lighting, contrast, shadow, color tones in this one! If anyone gives me 5 stars, I'll know you aren't really paying attention and rating these things! :)

And yes, I ate it. What - it was melting!
Too Late

This was chocolate lava cake and it seems I ate it before even thinking of getting the camera out.

Thanks for the encouragement, everyone. In getting back into this after several months' absence, I'm having a few issues that are driving me nuts. Losing my exif info is one of them, and I'm still trying to track that down.

Focus in macros is another. I used to be able to do this! The reason you couldn't tell if my last image was mango or a flower is the poor focus! Having real difficulty getting all in focus when using my macro lens. grrrrrr.

Anyway, thanks for the support and for bearing with me!

Original to other shot. Was having trouble uploading with exif, so I needed a place to upload this - please excuse!

I think I got it fixed now, so that is good. And I took the opportunity to also fix that crazy sloppy white line that is around the shadow on the edited version (previous day's entry) - so also a silver lining. :)

Let Them Lie

They were sleeping at my feet night before last while I worked. I looked down and the puppy (black one) had pushed up almost onto the golden retriever and had laid his head directly on top of Samson's head. They were both fast asleep. Samson is very tolerant!

And yes, I shared the popcorn with Samson the other night - look at that trusting face! How could I not?
