Still working on Kim Klassen's Skinny mini ecourse ( http://www.kimklassencafe.com) on working with Photoshop. I'm only on Day 7 of lessons and homework and I'm 3 days behind! Ack!

I used so many layers on this one I lost track of them. I did get some good practice using layers to use the spot healing brush (removed a lot of background distractions). Then used layers to do what I usually do on the image itself - levels, hue/sat, color balance, etc. New concept for me and lots to learn as far as tips and tricks that I didn't know before.

The last step was that I used a texture (grunge) layer. I played with the blending modes in that and ended up using the Multiply blending mode since it made her (my daughter, Teryn) pop from the background. I then used a mask layer to remove part of that texture from her hair and face, but I kept it on the background and liked it there.

Here is another 'finished' version (are we ever finished??) of this shot that I was happy with last summer: http://www.kdstewart.net/PeoplePetsFood-Homes/People/7600714_M4Eyq#952027011_tj4Kd That was a sepia finish.

School again tomorrow - 2nd Saturday snow make up day. Sigh.
