More practice with layers, this time with texture - a first for me.

Still working on homework from Kim Klassen Cafe skinnymini ecourse ( http://www.kimklassencafe.com). I'm trying to become familiar with how to add and adjust settings on layers using textures.

For this image, I added a grunge texture, then used a layer mask to take away some specific parts of it, then added an adjustment layer to adjust the levels (light levels), then added a hue/sat layer and mask to adjust the saturation and add back in some sat to the tomatoes, then a final layer using soft light blending mode.

It was good practice, but I actually think I like the version I already had of this shot better. For that version, I used the Topaz Adjust spicify filter. Here is that version: http://www.kdstewart.net/PeoplePetsFood-Homes/Food/11236981_XQVLp#1099202020_wF4bz

Which one do you like better?

Maybe I just need to get better at textures and pick a better texture next time! When I originally did the Topaz Adjust Spicify Filter on this image back in June I was dying to know how to do a texture on it but had no clue. Hmmm.....
